Have lots of fun in Japan! I lived there for four years and had a blast. If you don't have your travel plans made already, I heartily recommend you check out the Kansai region, especially Nara. There's a lot of great historical stuff to see and it's all pretty close together.

I'm living in Japan. I'm French. You will see in japan what you will decide to see. It means if you are looking for crazyness indeed you will be able to see it… but you can do that anywhere in the world. There are things I found crazy in USA and France too.
IMHO, what is more interesting is to search and look for what is familiar to you and understand why and how you feel close about it. It will tell a lot more about you and the way you see the world.
